Buying FAQ – Property Taxes

Below are answers to frequently asked questions about “Property Taxes” in Arizona. If you have a question that you would like answered feel free to submit your question here.

Which homes are subject to personal property tax?
All manufactured/ mobile homes titled as “Personal Property” in Arizona are subject to an annual “Personal Property Tax” from the County.

When are property taxes due in Arizona?
First half taxes are due October 1, delinquent after November 1. Second half taxes are due March 1, delinquent after May 1. You may pay both halves together until Dec 31. If you miss a deadline you may owe fees plus interest charges of 16% per year prorated monthly.

How are my property taxes computed?
The Assessed Value divided by 100, times the tax rate (set in August of each year) determines property taxes billed in September. The County Treasurer bills for, collects, and distributes the property taxes.

Why do my taxes go up every year?
Tax increases are a combination of increased property worth and higher budget demands. You may ascertain which specific jurisdictions increased their budget by reviewing the comparative taxes shown on the front of your property tax statement. If you have questions about a particular increase, call the respective phone number on the back of your tax statement.
